The independence of Kosovo is one of the most controversial questions in International Law that undoubtedly will shape the doctrine of International Law regarding issues of self-determination and secession. By examining the different theories that try to explain Kosovo independence, this talk will try to provide an answer to the question as to whether Kosovo is a sui generis case or a precedent that will lead to other secessions.
