Journalists and analysts love catchphrases such as ‘Twitter Revolution’ and ‘Facebook Revolution’, but these labels obscure more than they illuminate about protest and change in non-free states. This presentation will discuss how recent street protests in Russia came about through the evolving spread of information and mobilization that is based across a broad swathe of the digital sphere in the country.
