During the period of Russian parliamentarism (1905-1917), Russian liberals regarded the United States as an example of democracy and civil rights, and liberal political programs reflected the principles of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This talk will address Russian liberal perceptions of the United States and attempts to adopt American political, social and economic principles to the Russian pre-Soviet realities. Petr Skopin is a doctoral student in history at the Russian Academy
